Honor Roll

Craig Ahlgrim

Former director 2012-2022

Awarded to Craig Ahlgrim

Craig Ahlgrim, became the musical director of the Chorus of Du Page in 2012.  Prior to his appointment, Craig’s directorial experience with Illinois based men’s barbershop choruses was as director of the Aurora Lamplighters and as assistant director with The West Towns Chorus.

Craig is a third-generation barbershopper who looks forward to camaraderie and enjoying a hobby with other group members.  His father and both grandfathers sang barbershop. Both his sister and his wife sing barbershop with the woman’
s Sweet Adelines. According to Craig  “The barbershop style lends itself to a union of performers of all ages. It's a bonding between the old and the new, it doesn't matter how old the person is, as long as you can make that chord ring. It's a very addicting feeling to be a part of something like that. I hope it means constant fun times and while working to improve our singing level. We hope to have as much fun as we can while singing and performing the best we can."

For getting our chorus through the Covid years.

John Noll

2018 Barbershopper Of The Year

Awarded to John Noll

At our February 26, 2019 meeting John Noll was presented with a plaque honoring him as our 2018 “Barbershopper of the Year”. Since becoming a member in October of 2016, John has proven himself to be a very active member who regularly attends chorus rehearsals and performances. Right out of the gate he made himself available to assist in various other chorus activities.  In 2018 he eagerly took over a leadership role on the board as our Treasurer, when Tom Jones left the position after a long tenure. John has done an outstanding job with the various duties in that position. John’s other major accomplishments were: being the lead planner and organizer of the spring 2018 “Picnic in the Park” event in May, with help from Gary Baker and John Morrison; being the lead person on researching, purchasing and outfitting our new chorus trailer, with help from Steve Alsvig and Jim Ahlgrim; arranging the annual Naperville St.Patrick’s Day parade event we participate in and he is also the chairman for our “Charity Poker Events”. This is a new initiative to increase revenues for the chorus so we can better afford to pursue our goals of community service & singing.  Congratulations John!

Awarded to James Jarosz

When we lost or Music VP Ben Furino in the summer of 2016. Jim offered to step in to take his place.  Before becoming our Music VP he was already helping out our chorus as an assistant director.  He worked with our Director Craig Ahlgrim keeping the chorus members on track to learn new music for our Christmas show.  For our Christmas show he wrote the script and added much needed humor and fun to our annual show. Jim was the obvious choice for our 2016 Barbershopper of the year.

Ben Furino

2015 Barbershopper of the Year

Ben has not been a member or our chorus for very long he jumped right in attended Harmony University  took the Music VP  position.. Ben led our warm ups, filled in for Craig directing, taught tags, put together several quartets. He had some health set backs during the year but this did not slow him down much.. We will all remember after the start of his chemo treatments earlier in the day he shows up at our performance in LaGrange and sang with his quartet.

Jim Ahlgrim

.Jim Ahlgrim the father of our director Craig has been show chairman for our 3rd annual Christmas show. In 2014 Jim also booked us for the Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade and Hinsdale 4th of July Parade.  Jim was responsible for bookings and events that generated 70% of our chorus revenues in 2014.

Bruce Rhoades

2013 Barbershopper of the Year

Awarded to Bruce Rhoades

Bruce was one of the group of guys that followed our director Craig over to join the Chorus of Dupage in 2011.  He quickly became the guy that greeted and got to know every one of the long time Chorus of Dupage members and the many new members that started showin up at our rehearsals. He took on the Membeship VP position this past year and always took care of each visitor and guest.  He made sure that guests were not left alone and got a chance to sing a tag during breaks.  We are a society formed for the encougement of barbershop quartet singing. Bruce took this to heart singing with his own quartet and making sure as many members and new members as possible got to experience singing in a quartet.
